As my first post of 2016, I first must say HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I know starting a CrossFit routine in January sounds like everyone else and their New Year’s resolutions. Sure I have some resolutions, some even related to fitness, but I did not expect CrossFit to be in the mix… until I opened my Christmas present from my husband.
Having just moved from Minneapolis to Milwaukee last month, we were super pumped that the only LA Fitness in Wisconsin was close to our house. Then I went there to workout… and a sign was on the doors stating the club will permanently close in December. I was very bummed out about this, which is what may have lead to my gifted Cross Fit package… 🙂
Anyway, the package includes 5 intro classes, plus 3 months of membership at CrossFit 100. The intro classes are required before starting a monthly membership to ensure all members are practicing with proper form and technique.
I am so THRILLED to get started and I’ve scheduled my first intro class for tomorrow! I’m sure some people would think, aren’t you nervous? I am actually not nervous because in the past I was involved in a co-worker Fit Club that practiced CrossFit style, high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts. Another reason I am not nervous is because without even visiting CrossFit 100 in person yet, I already feel comfortable with the facility and the program just based on the company website which has TONS of information and tips to make CrossFit a great experience.
To prep for my start tomorrow, I have been eating clean for the past few days (now’s as good of time as any to pick back up with my stricter diet, right?!) and plan to continue reducing sugars and starchy carbs from my diet. Add in plenty of rest and water and I’ll be golden for tomorrow.
Stay tuned to hear about my first impressions after class!
